Let me take a moment to say...

I confess I have been terribly remiss in keeping up with this blog as of late. This world is full of cycles, and my life is no different. I find myself in a busy state now, but I know that the eye of the storm is approaching quickly. So, I will try to update, recap, and point toward the future in this moment of unusual pause.

Reid and I moved to a new apartment this last weekend. This was accomplished with the amazing help of our friends here! They were a huge help and blessing to us! I feel as though we would have been moving for the next year if if weren't for their selfless giving, sacrifice of their time and energy, and many hands. We have truly found kind hearts here, and I feel secure in saying we are very much living in God's Providence.

Today has been another turning point as well--seeing as it was my last day at work. It is a bitter-sweet transition. I will miss baby Zac, as I have come to care deeply about him. And yet I am very much ready to move on to other things. And while I am at times tempted to fret over not having another job lined up, I need only remember the many ways God has already been faithful to me. How then could I worry? He will not fail to take care of my needs, and he already knows the desires of my heart.

Well, that catches us up to the moment, but what of the future? Well, my parents are coming to visit us this next week! We are very excited to have them come--show them our little corner of the world. And then Reid leaves on the 1st for Pixar in California (God is amazing!), to be away for three months. I know that while my mind knows this to be true, it has yet to penetrate into my heart.

And yet, I will not be alone this summer, in more ways than one. While I know I am never alone, I have also learned the importance of companionship. So I am having a wonderful friend as a roommate for the summer. She and I shall enjoy being 'just the girls' and are planning lots of fun together!

I think that is all for now. More to come in the future.

Pink Colored World

Over the last few weeks, Providence has bloomed. The streets are filled with pedestrians, the trees are thick with leaves, the grass is green, the dogs are out, life is as it should be. Then today I was driving home from work, and I realized that the world had been colored pink. The beautiful blossoming trees were losing their flowers. The air was full of
petals, the streets covered. What a wonderful pink colored world.

Not Just a Snap Shot

This last weekend I was fortunate enough to be a part of a professional photo shoot. I was the assistant art director, and helped with the creative aspects as well as the more menial tasks. It was so much fun! I would love to work creatively like that every day!

The focus was on stationary, more specifically letter-pressed invitations. We had four themed bridal sets: Romantic Shabby Chic, Vintage 1920s Art Deco, Classic Ralph Lauren, and Modern Couture. We were at a photography studio in Massachusetts, and we brought almost all of the set backdrops and props with us. This includes, but is not limited to, curtains, vases, chest of drawers, mirror, chair, ottoman, and chandelier. There were two models, hairdresser, make-up artist, photographer, photographer's assistant, florist, art director, and of course director (stationary designer) and assistants. The photo shoot was organized to have the products for a trade show in New York, where all the big names will be (such as Martha Stuart, and others).

While this was my first photo shoot, I have had the opportunity to be a part of many film shoots. It was nice to have that experience under my belt. It helped to prepare me to be aware of the little details, and be more helpful. I think it also encouraged the creative side of me, allowing me to give some quality suggestions. And it taught me how important every job is on set--no matter how small. So a big shout out to my dad for all the great experience!

Also a big shout out to Chard, who was the art director and made it possible for me to come along and learn from him! He has an eye for composition, vast knowledge of styles and colors, a knack for perfect placement, and a huge heart.

I had the chance to make some great contacts and get a little hands-on experience. Whether or not this leads to anymore in the future, I was so blessed to have this opportunity!
