Trend Setter

I think I am going to set a new trend with crutches and a foot brace. Yep, thats right. I have a stress fracture in my right foot, and I'm wearing a removable cast and hobbling around. I feel that the crutches only accentuate my clumsiness. I am certainly not going to be dancing or running a marathon anytime soon. Yet while my foot and arms are sore, I figure this may be just the thing I was looking for to lose a couple pounds for swimsuit season. Using crutches is really a workout. Well, heres hoping none of you follow my lead, and that the week only gets better.

sunshine, lollipops & rainbows....

Today was another beautiful day. I love this stage of spring...when you drive with the windows down, music playing. I love the way people smell like sunshine.
This morning we ended up getting brunch with some friends (our first friends we made here actually) and seeing a different area of Providence. It was wonderful to do something spontaneous with others. And I'm convinced we couldn't have had better company.
Since then, we've had a rather uneventful day. Reid and I then ran some errands. Afterwards I rearranged a room and finished some home tasks, while Reid has been plugging away at school projects. But all the sunshine and friendship makes life seem fresh. I sure hope that
everything thats wonderful will come our way.

my spring rain

Spring has finally come to Providence. The weather has begun to warm up, even with all of the rain. While most of the city is still brown and decaying, I see hints of new life around me. Some of the trees are starting to get green, and flower leaves are popping up. I don't mind the rain, knowing what it will bring.
And just as the heavy water brings grass and flowers, I see the reflection of renewal in my own life. I work as a full-time nanny, and the family I work for has decided to put their child in day-care for more socialization. The parents love having me as their nanny, but they really want to have the baby be around other kids. This means that my job ends with May. This must be some of my rain. So, I have taken a lesson from the world around me and have decided to absorb this water, knowing that something good will grow from it.
May will bring many changes to our lives. Reid finished his semester and heads off to California. We move apartments. I end a job. Lots of change. But good change, I think. I know God sees me and knows me and loves me. And I guess that's all I need to know.

City Streets

I really do love living in the city. I like walking down the city streets--people all around, cars everywhere, the air full of sounds, people smiling. I love how close everything is. I love all the beautiful architecture. I love the hustle and bustle. I always enjoy walking around, but especially with my ipod on. Its like being in a movie--its as if everyone is being orchestrated to fit my soundtrack, but they just don't know it. I'm simply part of the scenery to them...but maybe thats part of the charm too--being a part of something. I am part of the atmosphere too, part of the ambiance and draw of the city. While I may miss the open views and big sky of the West, there is just something about the East that is beautifully established and yet so full of life's energy. One can't help but be upbeat on these city streets.

Wow

I look back over the last year and am amazed. So much has happened. Reid and I have graduated from college, moved across the country, and become established in a new place. We've had to sell a house, sell some belongings, find an apartment, I had to find a job. Reid started grad school. We had to find a new church home, make new friends, try to stay in touch with our old friends. So many little details too--just so much! It is wonderful to be able to look back and see how faithful God has been. We may not have always had things turn out how we thought they should, but its easy to see His hand in our lives.
Now we have new exciting news--Reid will be an intern at Pixar this summer! This is a dream come true for him--for us. This was a huge part of the reason we moved away from home and family for grad school.
Our lives are certainly not perfect--not even close, but our lives are full and fulfilling. And as I look back all I can say is WOW.
