Well, it is another staggeringly hot day in the ocean state. Now, it does not make much sense to me that here, in Providence, where there is so often a heavy breeze coming in from the ocean, which will often make a nice day in the seventies feel cold, can now, that it is suddenly reaching up to 100 degrees, cease to blow a cool wind. Yes, that's right. It has now reached 100 degrees on two occasions, and it is only the beginning of June. I think if you stand in the shade too long you get burned. And the humidity is appalling. Every time I step outside I feel as if I've had a shower. My hair is in a constant state of frizz. No product can compete with this kind of water air. I believe I may possibly be breathing in water...I should test that theory out. Maybe the people in Rhode Island will be the breakthrough in mutating cells...
At least I am consoled by the fact that Reid and I did hold out for an apartment with air conditioning. I think this may have been the best decision we've ever made...well, at least in terms of my comfort. (After all, Reid is in CA with a beautiful day in the seventies.)
And yet, it is lovely outside. The sunshine is encouraging and while it's so hot you don't want to leave your house, it does mean you get more accomplished inside.
I really shouldn't be surprised by the strange weather. I always believed Idaho's weather was unpredictable, but RI tops it by a mile (which is surprising seeing as it's at water level) (ha, ha). The weather changes constantly, and in every form. Did you know that the sky can mist? Yes, that's right--mist. Sometimes here it won't be raining or drizzling, or spitting, there will just be droplets of water in the air. It's not the same as humidity either, it just mists.
Okay, back to my first topic--it's hot in Providence, and the summer has only begun. I say let's throw a party and all sing to Heat Wave, while we bbq and go to the beach. Who's in?

Ugh! I both hate and love humidity on the east coast. I love it when I can just sit outside in a bathing suit and relax, but I hate it when I need to get anything done. I would totally be in for the BBQ and Heat Wave sing if I was around... Oh! and P.S. I love your hair in your pic on your blog! :)
Well, then, we'll just have to get together when I come into town in July. And thanks!
I'm in!
I think it is quite ironic that the east coast, even on the water, is experiencing 100 degree weather in June and those of us in Idaho (some would say in the desert) are experiencing rain and highs of 60 degrees...how does that compute?
The world's a crazy place!
